Ages 3-4


Introduction to Dance: This class is designed to introduce children ages 3 – 4 to classical ballet, tap and jazz movements. This hour long class will introduce not only the movements but terminology of dance. This class encourages your child to explore the joy of movement through dance in a positive and age appropriate atmosphere. It also assists with balance and coordination and builds a positive foundation for self-expression. 



AGES 5-7


Pre-Ballet: This class is designed to introduce children ages 5 – 7 to an hour long discipline of classical ballet movement. The student will continue to learn not only the proper movement for ballet, but also the proper terminology. This class continues with the positive platform that was established in the Introduction to Dance class.
                  
Pre-Jazz: This class is designed to introduce children ages 5 – 7 to an hour long discipline of traditional jazz movement. The student will continue to learn not only the proper movement for jazz, but also the proper terminology. This class continues with the positive platform that was established in the Introduction to Dance class.

 Pre-Tap: This class is designed to introduce children ages 5 – 7 to an hour long discipline of traditional Tap movement. The student will continue to learn not only the proper movement for Tap, but also the proper terminology. This class continues with the positive platform that was established in the Introduction to Dance class. 



ages 7-10


Beginning Ballet: This class is designed for children ages 7 – 10. This hour long discipline continues with the classical ballet movement and proper terminology. The class also begins to challenge the student with vocabulary and placement.

Beginning Jazz: This class is designed for children ages 7 – 10. This hour long discipline teaches classical jazz movement, incorporating isolations, technique and various styles encountered in jazz genres.

Beginning Tap: This class is designed for children ages 7 – 10. This hour long discipline continues with the classical tap technique and proper terminology. This class also begins to challenge the student with vocabulary and proper body placement.


Beginning Hip Hop: This class is designed for children ages 7 – 10 who have had previous dance experience. This hour long class will be an introduction to basic hip hop movements. 



Intermediate and advanced classes

Intermediate Ballet/Pre-pointe: This class is designed for an experienced ballet dancer who needs to focus on strengthening so they may begin the hour long Pointe discipline. Placement in this class is determined by the artistic staff. *At least two ballet classes are mandatory in order to begin Pre-pointe.

Pointe 1: This discipline of classical pointe technique is designed for the intermediate level student. Placement in this class is determined by the staff. *At least two ballet classes are mandatory in order to take this class.


Pointe 2: This discipline of classical pointe technique is designed for the advanced level student. Students also have the opportunity to train in classical variations and choreography at this level. Placement in this class is determined by the staff. *At least two ballet classes are mandatory in order to take this class.



JAZZ / Hip-Hop / Tap / IMPROV-COMPOSITION 


Intermediate Jazz: This class focuses on more intricate technique and combinations while incorporating more isolations in the shoulders and hips. Body placement is emphasized as American jazz styles are explored.

Advanced Jazz: This class focuses on intricate combinations and choreography which require precise technique, a sense of confident styles preparing the dancer for auditions from Broadway to commercial work.

Intermediate Improv / Composition : This class expands self-expression and greater sense of how the body moves. Emphasis is placed on alignment, balance, strength and flexibility to enhance proper dance Technique. Graham, Limon, and Horton are referenced as students learn floor work, weight shifting, and traveling through space. The goal is to fuse imagery, anatomy, and technique to embody dynamic, expressive interpretations of movement.

Advanced Improv / Composition : This is a hour long fast paced class that emphasizes self-expression and specificity of conditioning and movement dynamics. Floor work, improvisation, and partner weight sharing are covered. Elements of Graham, Limon, Horton, and various Cultural dance forms are highlighted to offer students a broad range of Contemporary dance concepts.

Intermediate Tap: This class will continue the classical tap movement with a heavy focus on rhythm and timing. This class will start to include longer combinations and choreography.

Advanced Tap: This class will have the students explore different tap styles including rhythmic tap. This class will focus more on style and performance quality while still maintaining technique.

Intermediate Hip Hop: This class will have students begin to move away from “jazzy” hip hop and introduce them to many different styles of true hip hop. This class will focus not only on body placement, but the student becoming more comfortable with the style.

Advanced Hip Hop: This class will have students work more in depth in the different hip hop styles. This class will be choreography heavy, focusing on the student finding their own individuality.

These hour long classes are focused on continuing the education of the student in each discipline at an appropriate level. At these levels, students begin to learn more choreography at a faster rate. Students will need to be evaluated for placement in the proper level to ensure they stay healthy but also challenged.

These classes are designed for the more experienced dancer ages 10 and up. Students interested in these 1.5 hour disciplines will need to be evaluated for placement in the proper level to ensure they stay healthy but also challenged. Students will be taught in the Vaganova based style.
